Moving Forward, Always
The blank page is the enemy of the writer and the innovator.
In my experiencing talking to people that are stuck in their projects or their personal life, a common phrase you’ll hear is “I don’t know what to do”.
I would mildly adjust this to “you don’t know what to do next”.
And I would challenge that belief. You need to bring this problem out of the clouds and ground it.
As an example, if you want to start a business and you “don’t know what kind of business” there are literally endless things you could do. You could set up a coffee with the owner of a business you admire and ask them questions about what it’s like to start a business. You could venture over to the entrepreneurship center in your town. You could go on bizbuysell and reach out to a couple of owners.
You need to DO something. Stop thinking. Stop Analyzing. Do something.
Action, even small action, is how you move forward.
In digital we talk about identifying the critical question and then working on getting the answer.
In the business example, a good critical question might be “I have no idea how business financing works?” or “what’s it like running a small business, do you just work 20 hours a day?”. Both good questions!
It doesn’t matter if your most critical question is “the” most critical question. Instead of focusing on 20 questions, focusing on the most critical pulls you down to one question, which grounds you and biases you towards action.
If you don’t know the answer, how can you find the answer?
You have to pull those ideas/fears/concerns down from the clouds and make them real and actionable.
I have some ideas on how to do that.
